Notice: Redneck Festival Canceled

The safety and health of our entire community, guests, volunteers, and staff is our first priority and always top of mind when making our decisions.  We did not make this decision lightly.  At each and every step we took into account not only the time and effort that goes into planning this event, but also the impact on the economy of our area.  However, with the uncertainty of the times, we are unable to be fully confident in the fact that it will be safe to gather and celebrate in July 2020.

The last few months have been difficult with businesses closed, individuals out of work, and the health of the general public threatened. Given the position that our state is currently in, with all the uncertainty of Covid-19 and no clear direction of what the next couple of months will bring, the  Vassar Chamber of Commerce and the Redneck Fest Committee has concluded that the risk to our patrons, volunteers, and vendors is simply too great. This decision was not made lightly, and the entire committee is saddened but what we ultimately deemed necessary at this time.

Our committee waited as long as possible, and as much as we want to have this event, it’s not feasible. Although we are disappointed, there is nothing more important to us than the health, safety and well-being of the citizens of Vassar, and we will do what we can to support our community’s fight against the coronavirus outbreak.
